PhotoPhilanthropy is proud to announce a partnership with POYi (Pictures of the Year International). Our common interest in promoting documentary photography and awareness to social issues makes this a significant collaboration.
This collaboration will allow PhotoPhilanthropy to send a winning student in this year’s Activist Awards to the Missouri Photo Workshop in June 2011. In addition, our own Activist Award Director, Kathleen Hennessy, will be a assisting POYi at this year’s conference as a reviewer in the workshops for emerging photographers and as a jury member of POYi's Emerging Vision Incentive award.
"PhotoPhilanthropy is particularly excited to be working with POYi in encouraging emerging photographers to use their talents for social awareness and action. Our media environment is changing rapidly, but people always respond to powerful photography that conveys an interesting story in a unique way." - Nancy Farese, PhotoPhilanthropy founder.
"POYi recognizes PhotoPhilanthropy¹s noble objective to inspire documentary photographers and enlighten citizens on issues of social importance. Both programs exert a positive spark during these challenging times, and POYi is privileged to have PhotoPhilanthropy collaborate on this incentive." Rick Shaw, Director of POYi.
