I have been involved with Touch the World for most of my life, yet it wasn’t until I went on a trip to Uganda, Africa this past summer with the organization that I truly knew what Touch the World is doing for the people of not only Uganda, but all over the world.
Touch the World Ministries is an organization that takes young teens and helps them grow into mature young adults in the Christian faith. Touch the World, Uganda (TTWU) is specifically run by Jesse and Andrea Kroeze from New Jersey. In Uganda they are working in both Kampala as well as in the war torn region of Gulu in the north. For over 20 years, Joseph Kony’s Lords Resistance Army has been terrorizing the northern region, pillaging, raping and killing the Acholi tribesmen. For now there is peace, yet the people of northern Uganda feel hopeless. The goal of TTWU is to restore that hope in the people and to let them know that through Christ anything is possible.
TTWU has set up a school called the Dream Center that teaches people how to make a living, in order to relocate from the internally displaced persons (IDP) camps they are currently in back to their original villages. In southern Uganda, TTWU is working alongside Saint Mary Kevin Boarding School and Orphanage to help these children gain an education.
I have been on many trips with TTW all over the world, yet there has never been one like my journey to Africa. What TTWU is doing in aiding the lives of these children is truly selfless and inspiring. I have never in my life seen such love towards these people as I have with TTWU. They have inspired me to return as often as I can.
